It is a sweetener and flavour enhancer in foodstuff and is allowed in the European Union since january 20th 2010. It is known by the E number E961. It's systemic name is N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine-1-methyl ester and the sweetness factor i approximately 7000 t 13000 times greater than that of sucrose.
