Metabolic Research

CIL offers the most complete listing of stable isotope-enriched metabolic substrates available. These substrates allow investigators to study metabolism in living systems in a manner which is safe, accurate and non-invasive. These materials allow the quantification of endogenous substrates using isotope-dilution mass spectrometery (IDMS), which is widely considered the most accurate, sensitive, reproducible and popular method used for small molecule quantification using MS. Magnetic resonance is also used in metabolism studies in conjunction with isotope-enriched substrates, most notably in dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) studies where 1-13C-pyruvic acid is often employed.
